Plan Ahead – Prevent A Tragedy – Keys Please®
Even small amounts of alcohol can impair driving ability. Over the last five years, there have been 42,913 criminal convictions for impaired driving in Alberta (April 1, 2009 – March 31, 2014).
Clearly drivers need to plan ahead, to prevent a tragedy and don’t drink and drive. Ginger Greenwood, General Manager for Keys Please says, “Keys Please® offers a safe solution to get you, your vehicle and your guests to your destination when you are unable to. Two professionally trained drivers will arrive at your pickup location. One driver will drive you in your vehicle as well as any guests to your destination. The other driver follows to pick up his or her partner at the end of the trip. Drivers will perform multiple stops or drop offs as long as the last destination is with the vehicle.”
The greatest impact of drinking and driving is the victims. From 2009 to 2013, 444 people were killed and 6,649 people were injured in alcohol-related collisions in Alberta alone. Greenwood says, “Keys Please® is an easy option for people who don’t want to get behind the wheel when they are impaired. Keys Please® is also available for small or large functions. From weddings, anniversary parties, backyard BBQ’s to large corporate events, Keys Please® provides the hosts of the function ease of mind knowing that their guests have professional designated drivers at their disposal.”
The Calgary Police want people to report impaired drivers. However, planning ahead is the best way to not put people’s lives at risk. Making it even easier, Keys Please has a designated driver app, provided by The Driving Alternative Inc. This app gives easy access to a Keys Please designated driver – in just a couple of taps. The app allows the user to watch their designated driver vehicle via GPS, as it approaches his or her location.
The effects of impaired driving are massive. Not only from the perspective of the victims and families who lives will never be the same, but the impaired driver can face license suspensions, criminal charges, fines and possible imprisonment. It’s not worth the risk, plan ahead.
