The Evolution of Transportation in Calgary Launch of Ride Please™ October 13,
October 1, 2016, Calgary, Alta – The Driving Alternative Inc., known as Keys Please®, has been operating in Calgary for 20 years. Keys Please® started as a designated driving service for people who simply wanted to enjoy a night out and have a few drinks, but wanted their vehicles for the next day. Ginger Greenwood, General Manager says, “Keys Please® has been successful in getting people home safely along with their vehicles. People want their independence. They don’t want to rely on other people.”
Now, 20 years later, The Driving Alternative Inc. continues to grow. Greenwood says, “Our customers have asked us for years if they could use our services to simply ‘catch a ride’. And now they can with Ride Please™.” The transportation industry is rapidly evolving in response to changes in Calgary’s livery bylaw. Greenwood says, “This is something we’ve been trying to do for 10 years and The Driving Alternative Inc. is pleased to announce the October 13, 2016, launch of Ride Please™ – with affordability and no price surging! Plus, Ride Please™ offers higher compensation to our drivers and pays for the insurance for full time drivers.”
Ride Please™ will provide Calgarians and outlying communities with a safe and affordable transportation option. With the Driving Alternative., Keys Please® offers designated driving, as well as the option where they would drive people in their vehicle after having day surgery, eye surgery or dental procedure. And now with Ride Please™ there is also the option of other services such as being driven to and from meetings, running errands, family pick-up from school and other destinations.
Dave Dick, President of The Driving Alternative Inc. says, “We must continue to invest in where the customer is heading, and we’re prepared for what’s next. With the recent changes to our bylaw that regulate the taxi, limousine and ride-sharing industry, we are thrilled to finally be allowed to operate a ride-share service in Calgary.”
Ride Please™ is also setting the industry standards when it comes to doing a complete comprehensive background screening process with each and every single driver they have. The screening process is a rigorous one. Every driver must have a complete criminal check with a vulnerable sector search. When it comes to the vehicle, the City of Calgary has a standard of the vehicle being no more than 10 years old; however, Ride Please™ will set the standard that the vehicle must not be more than eight years old. Plus, every vehicle must be a four-door vehicle with plenty of legroom for the passengers. The drivers must be over the age of 25 and have 10-plus years’ driving experience. In addition to the uniformed personnel, every driver with Ride Please™ will have the appropriate insurance and appropriate city license (TNDL).
The Driving Alternative Inc. remains committed to their customers and will continue to learn and listen to each and every one of them. Their experience with The Driving Alternative Inc. is what drives this company to mold their business and strategies around what their customers’ feedback is so that they can continue to succeed in the transportation environment. Dick says, “We care about our community and want to give them a safe and reliable method of transportation.”
